Family Information

The Michigan Department of Corrections operates a voluntary Family Advisory Board. This board communicates with the Department about efforts related to family reunification, as well as providing feedback to the department on behalf of families and the loved ones of incarcerated individuals. If you would like to be considered for this advisory board, please complete, and submit an application. Participation on the board is voluntary and is not compensated. Travel expenses incurred for approved meetings will be eligible for reimbursement subject to state travel recommendations.

The Michigan Department of Corrections is dedicated to providing as much information as possible to family members who have a loved one serving in Michigan's prison system. This Family Information Packet, designed by the Correctional Facilities Administration, which oversees prison operations, is a comprehensive guide that provides information on everything from Crime Victims' Rights to Visiting a Prisoner.

If you still need more information, you can visit our Frequently Asked Questions or call the Correctional Facilities Administration at 517-335-2263.
