PIE – Prison Interactive Experience
Help Us Bring the Reality of Incarceration to Light
Adopt an Inmate is building a life-sized prison cell exhibit in Veneta, Oregon, with the help of justice-impacted volunteers. Featuring authentic fixtures and an immersive soundscape, this exhibit will give visitors a powerful, firsthand experience of incarceration.
“Our vision is to inspire change by showing people what incarcerated individuals experience,” said Melissa Bee, She-EO of Adopt an Inmate. “Ultimately, we hope this leads to more inclusive policies.”
For many, life behind bars is difficult to imagine. However, this project will bridge that gap by providing a stark, realistic look at prison conditions—an experience that fosters greater empathy and understanding.
Of course, we can’t replicate every aspect of incarceration. Nevertheless, we will include key elements that highlight daily prison life. Visitors will interact with simulated prison officers, explore commissary items, and learn about everyday objects classified as contraband.
“We want to show the public the realities of prison life,” said Rick Fisk, Co-Founder of Adopt an Inmate. “The more people understand, the more they’ll feel motivated to reform the system and support those affected by it.”
To make this project a reality, we are funding it through our “Drop a Dime“ campaign. Your support is crucial. By contributing today, you can help us raise awareness and drive meaningful change. Every donation brings us one step closer.
