Adopting a Person in Prison
Adopting a person in prison is a serious decision. By establishing a relationship with someone who is locked up, you are taking the first step in helping that person build community, self-worth and confidence. Studies show that people incarcerated who have family support, are less likely to violate conditions of parole or re-offend.
In some sense, though you aren’t family, you’re creating family for a person who might not have anyone outside the prison walls giving them any type of support. We encourage you to read the FAQ and be ready to make a commitment before deciding. You’re not just changing someone else’s life, you’re changing your own.
